William M. Dikant, 86, a loving husband and father passed away peacefully at home April 12, 2025. Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Dikant. Mr. Dikant graduated from Albany High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, achieving an honorable discharge in 1959. In addition to a career which included but was not limited to becoming owner and operator of K Brothers Auto Radiator Repair Service built by his uncles in 1946, Bill also retired with 42 years of service as court officer in the Town of Schodack and became a life member of the Castleton Volunteer Ambulance, serving as a driver for more than 23 years. He retired from the Dept. of Environmental Conservation for NY state.
Having lost his wife Barbara, son Michael and daughter Karen, he became a passionate advocate and educator on the dangers of drinking and driving with “Excellence in Service” recognition from NY State in 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice (Lutz) Dikant; son, Marc (Amy) Dikant; grandchildren, Benjamin and Danielle Dikant; step-children, Michael (Justine) Gummer, Coleen Papas; and four step-grandchildren.
