Haverly, LeRoy E. SCHODACK LANDING LeRoy E. “Roy” Haverly, 78, of Schodack Landing, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 27 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born on March 23, 1934 to the late Ernest and Sarah Haverly, Roy is a retired Marine sergeant, serving from 1951 to 1954, and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 294. Roy worked for and retired from August Bohl construction after 20-plus years. Until his death, he was an active member and fire commissioner for the Schodack Landing Volunteer Fire Company. While raising his family, Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and family vacations. He was an avid bowler, involved in leagues here in Albany and in Florida and loved his yearly vacations in Florida. He was a huge fan of the New York Giants and Yankees. He enjoyed cooking holiday dinners and looked forward to spending time with his family; he felt he was truly blessed. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Marion and sisters, Loretta Haverly and Jane Buchanan. Survivors include his sister Lillian Haverly. He was a devoted father to Roy (Cindy) Haverly of Castleton, Michael Haverly of Schodack Landing and Wendy (Bryan) Haverly of Loudonville. Cherished grandfather to Jason, Shannon, Michael Haverly and Kayla Sancomb, and a proud great-grandfather to Bryce and Jacob. The family would like to thank the many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends for all the love and support over the years. Special thanks are offered by the family to the staff at the fourth floor cardiac unit at St. Peter’s Hospital for their special care and tenderness.
